Re: Miix 720 pen tip & clip

Hi.

I bought an i7 Miix 720 from Amazon.de, arrived earlier his week.

It came with the same pen shown in message 9 here from stefanodelia.

Model number MI6531, 2 buttons on the side plus click button on top. No pen clip.

A question for any Lenovo people; is model number MI6531 an active pen 2, or active pen 1? Why is there no pen clip, as was shown in the documentation?

The pen works fine for sketching etc, but I cannot get it connected via bluetooth. I tried holding down the top button for 7 seconds, as per the manual, but nothing is happening.

Maybe just a new battery needed (not the AAAA battery, but the additional bluetooth one (or two?) hidden in the part that screws off).

Some questions for any other owners;

Is your pen working on bluetooth?

Is the LED light visible at any time when you press buttons (the manual only says it should flash red at low battery)

Thanks.

Could any of you guys tell us; does the pen support tilt?
I have my doubts that it is the anticipated Gen 13 Wacom pen and, instead, only boasts the 4096 levels of pressure with none of the other features.
Maybe it could be that the digitizers in these screens, which are coming out now, don't support tilt but the pens do and will incorporate it in later digitizers; I don't know.

John, I would guess yours is the previous generation Active Pen, as the other guys had MI6532 engraved on theirs, not MI6531. If you retained the sticker with the full model name and number, you'd know for sure - see the attached images in those other fellows' posts. If you haven't kept the sticker, well, then... perkele!

After some digging around in the bin, I found the plastic label. And no - it's also called an Active Pen 2. I'll contact Lenovo to see what's going on with it.

No sign of any tilt ability, pressure only I think.

Kiitos paljon, John!

Doesn't sound like a very Finnish name, but you've at least learned that much, I'd hope.

Let us know what Lenovo has to say (if anything)

Yeah - a non-Finn. I'm just working here for a few years.

Will update...

If you do a web search for that model number (5T70M55297) you'll find some places but I'd much rather wait to get it from a more reputable source.

I've ordered the Lenovo Yoga 720 which I just received yesterday, I actually have the active pen 2 in the box but with no batteries whatsoever.. managed to figure out the AAAA battery down the shaft of the pen, but can you help me figure out what batteries it uses on the bluetooth module please?

So we have some 720 units in for testing. The active pen 2 is the one with the button on top. It is also fully metal, rather than plastic like the old one.

To pair it, press and hold the top botton and the white light near the top starts flashing. If it doesnot light up, you may not have installed the 2 tiny batteries that come with it, these are in addition to the single AAAA battery.
