Miix Power Issues - possible product issue - anyone else with same symptoms with a Miix?

2016-11-10, 10:50 AM

Hi. My own Miix700 is in for repair for what seems to be a power related issue. An initial search on these boards has already brought up these threads that look to be related (Miix 700 only so far). Is anyone else out there in the same boat? And if so can we pool resources as it looks to me at face value that there is a serious product fault here? Please send a message if you want to help. tim

While I do not have the 700, I have the 300, I am suddenly having power issues. I can have a full charge in the battery and then within a couple of hours of no use, the battery is completely flat. I am playing with the settings in the power manager right now but mine seems to be worse when I leave the keyboard attached.

As an aside... mine was due back from it's repair on Saturday morning, but DPD managed to send me the wrong one! I've been without it for over a month now... and it's currently "lost".... if something can go wrong it will.... my worst nightmare now is if and when I do get it back the fault reoccurs

Hey, Tim, if it makes you feel any better you're not alone.  I've had my Miix 700 since last February or so, and it's been solid up until about 1.5 months ago or so.  Initially it started as some intermittent video blips, then progressed to more extended blips and flashing, and finally to the sceen turning off and there being no out put.  Immediate restarts might or might not have brought back the display but turning off and letting it cool seemed to at least allow the video to come back, but eventually it would go back to flashing/B(lack)SOD.  Called Lenovo support back on 11/22 and just today got a very beat up empty box (FedEx, you and UPS suck!), but regardless put my Miix 700 in along with the form, taped it up as best I could, slapped the return label on it and waved good bye.  I hope to see it again as it's a nice machine when it's working, but if all y'all are having to deal with extended periods without it @ depot repair (been there, done that, hated it...) then I'm not holding my breath for this thing to come back before the new year.  But I just wanted to let all you folks know that you're not alone, and this alone is probably good enough reason to buy Think branded versus Idea branded...

It doesn't make it any better no! But thanks anyway.... It went from bad to worse! DPD confirmed "lost". After innumerable calls and chat sessions with support requesting an immediate replacement I kept being told would be sent to escalation department and to wait 2-3 days. I'd call back and be told the same. Twice. In an eternal loop! Anyway last time was Friday - they requested a proof of purchase even after i pointed out this was all under their warranty. I've since had an email telling me wrong format (it was .xps). The last outboud comms I had was an email on 28 October telling me a part was needed. Anyway... you'll like the punchline.... I got back in the house on the Friday a couple of hours after having the call, and about 5 mins after I came through the door the bell rang and there was a UPS man with a package to sign for. It was my unit! You couldn't make it up. I've now got it working to my liking again, but I'm petrified it will develop the same fault and I end up back here. I plan a stinking letter about the total lack of acceptable service, and no laptop for my business for six weeks. Not that I expect anyone to listen. Possibly the most unsatisfactory customer service experience EVER. On a premium brand with a premium price. I am not impressed at all.

I have this problem too.

After a repair (due to another reason) my MIIX 700 can not wake up after falling asleep by not being used for some time. It can't be switched on either. The white lamp goes on but the screen is still black and nothing happens for tens of minutes. I can only swith the lamp off by pressing the power button. That's all it does now.

There was some trick with keeping the power button and the sound volume button for a minute or so. Does anyone know what it was?

This morning I started my Lenovo Ideapad Miix 700. At first is seemed normal, got my login screen with battery status: FULL. Before I could login (Windows 10) all went black. Looks like the same problem.

This is a Lenovo forum, but does Lenevo use it themselves???

:smileyfrustrated: Just send it to the maintenance.

I did it on 2016-12-12 and I am still waiting while they are also waitng for the new motherboard to come. Seems they have only one remedy to this problem.

With time, I become more and more impatient. I wonder which faults the new board will have.
