Yoga 2 tab 10 windows otg cable

2015-06-29, 2:01 AM

I bought a micro usb to female usb adaptor and neither my android lg optimus g pro nor my usb flash drive are recognized by the yoga.

I've restarted both phone and yoga.  the phone connects fine to my samsung slate pc running win7.

maybe the cheap amazon adaptor?  this is what i bought:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HVT15HK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

can someone suggest a good adaptor that works?

This one works for me:

I have a Yoga Tablet 2 10, and I tested with a couple USB flash drives, and also a powered hub.

Before you reutrn your cables you might want to test them a powered hub.  The OTG port supplies very little power.

strangely, when I plug my adaptor with flash drive attached into my insignia 8" win 8.1 tablet, it gets recognized right away.

I looked closely at that one.  I liked the right-angle connector, but it looked like the cord would be pointing up when the tablet is used with the kickstand.  Is that correct?  If the cord is pointing down I will order one.

That's correct - it points upwards (away from the battery). But I use my tablet mostly in lap mode - so it works great for me - but I see your issue if you work in the opposite mode most of the time. :)

Either way - I think most cables that say OTG should work - it's a pretty standard protocol. This cables works for all my tablets and phones (Nexus 7, HTC One M7, M8, Yoga Tablet 2).

might there be a setting on my yoga 2 that causes it not to recognize the adaptor?

I had a similar problem. USB flash drives connected via a new USB-to-microUSB cable adapter weren't recognised by Windows Explorer. Same with powered sources like my GoPro and my bicycle GPS computer. Voltage was getting through to passive flash drives, but no data connection. I thought it might be USB port settings or some other Yoga/Windows config, but no.

It was the cable adapter. I bought a new one (tested it at the shop) and it now works perfectly.

Hi, I threw away the package! It's just a generic no-name adapter - female USB at one end and male microUSB at the other (which plugs into the Yoga) with about 50mm or 2" of cable between. Btw, I also connected my BenQ wireless mouse and, separately, my bicycle GPS computer, to this adapter and they connect perfectly. Next I'll try connecting a powered USB hub to the adapter, and connect a number of USB devices at the same time (eg wireless mouse, flash drive etc). I'll guess and say it will work.

Interestingly, the adapter looks EXACTLY the same as another adapter I bought off eBay which didn't work - huge wasted of time trying to sort it out! Same plugs with the same markings on them, same 2" of cable, but it was dead as a maggot.

The Yoga does come with a male USB to male microUSB, but I don't know what it's for.
