Re: Faint Ghosting on X220 IPS screen

Ok, I don't have onsite service. Don't know if this makes any difference.

They called me and wanted to send the machine back to me without doing anything again. Last time they did the same thing with some scratches on my machine.

I am really pissed off now.

as an update to my previous post, here is a photo of the new FRU:

this particular panel is 04W3462 with date codes of 108 and 110822 respectively.

consider this evidence of new panels making it out into the wild.

Mark,

Just looking to be clear:  Is the screen ghosting issue now disseminated among Lenovo authorized repairers so that if we bring in a ghosting screen to Lenovo authorized repairers, they will know that this is a known issue?

(I'm in Canada, by the way).

Thanks.

A preamble - I do love the x220.  It's a great computer.  But I'm in four weeks of business travel and all of a sudden, the ghosting as described in this forum begins popping up.

My computer was manufactured in early August.  Very frustrating, to say the least as I've not seen this in any previous computer I've used and I put in about 8 hours a day minimum with my laptop for years.

Back in Canada late this week and will put in a warranty claim.

Is Lenovo 100% replacing these screens?

@connmen,

Drop me a note if they decline to replace your screen. :)

Sent in on the 6th to have LCD replaced. Got it back today.

The new panel is much better with respect to ghosting. Like others have said, the ghosting is still there, but it's far less noticable. I had to go looking for it so for now, I'm happy :-)

Thanks to all!

You could try tools like "SiSoft Sandra Lite". These may be able to show you some data about your LCD like manufacturing date and alike.

Using x230t (i5-3320M, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 80GB mSata-SSD) and loving it!
