I think that they should market the backup software a little more.

Considering Windows 7 Home Premium does not come with a backup solution as functional as Thinkvantage one, I think that it would make sense to highlight that feature. I think that Thinkvantage backup software is just as good a Mac OSX Time Machine backup software. The Thinkpad line has had this feature available for quite some, and I am surprise that it has not been advertised more. On a side note, PC Doctor is ok.

DO LIST

  • Start 40% faster than average Windows® 7 PCs with RapidBoot*
  • New precision keyboard with improved ergonomic design and optional backlight
  • Dual array microphones, keystroke noise suppression and 720p HD webcam for crystal clear video conferencing
  • Dolby® speakers with Advanced Audio® v2 for full impact surround sound
  • Active Protection System™ – for hard drive
  • 4G LTE support for ultra fast wireless connectivity
  • Charge your battery up to 80% in 30 minutes with RapidCharge
  • Up to 24 hours battery life with ThinkPad 19+ slice battery*
  • ThinkVantage software for manageability and security
  • ThinkVantage software for manageability, security, and backup
  • HDMI out and two USB 3.0 ports

it has a mini displayport out and not HDMI out.

Spec is wrong.

no it is same as the X220 vent, there is basically two exits for the heat exhaust.

Is this a future of keybords in Lenovo laptops for experienced and professional customers? Why not, the market is so big.

Go, Lenovo, Go!

Amen.

the X230 will have backlight on keyboard and thinklight, so it pleases both side of the market.

Re: X230 picture

How about the side of the market that has been using the classic keyboard layout and mechanics for over a decade?

Who in the world did they talk to for their research that said "I don't like the classic layout, please change it?"  They must be talking to their executives or teenagers browsing youtube for research!

Like I said, perhaps the mechanics of the chiclet are better.  All the Lenovo chiclets I have tried to date are NOT, but I'll give it a chance, perhaps the X230/W530 is different.

However, there is no excuse for the layout change.  Every key in the classic layout has evolved to where it is for a reason.  After over a decade of small changes (evolution), they have dumped the whole thing for what the rest of the market has.

If they just want to sell out, fine.  But please don't try to sell me this 'it's better' crap.  It's not.  it's a HUGE step backwards, and when the dust settles there is nothing distinguishing about a Thinkpad anymore.

It's just for profit, now Lenovo gets to use the same chiclet keyboard and layout as the rest of their laptops.  It isn't a very good idea, I think most of us would be willing to pay extra to have the classic keyboard.  The ThinkPad has always been a premium product, there is no sense in throwing a consumer grade keyboard on it.
