Legion Y25-25 image retention issue.

2021-01-14, 10:21 AM

I don't know if image retention is the correct word here, it's not related to a static image being burned into the screen when viewed for an amount of time. This will happen randomly and while there is motion on the screen, maybe a few times a week.

The screen will "rasterize" (for the lack of a better word) as if half the pixels aren't lighting up; screen may flicker; current image on screen will be burned in. The burn in effect will last for 15-30 minutes while fading away slowly.

Here's a gallery by someone else who has the same issue, mine looks identical: https://imgur.com/gallery/lfDbd6l

Any ideas what to do?

Hi TurbinoZ100000,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you tried uninstalling the display drivers and or display device completely ?

Uninstall Display Device with drivers and reinstall:
- Press the Windows key + X and select "Device Manager"
- Expand "Display Adapters"
- Right click the AMD, NVIDIA and/or INTEL VGA devices and select "Uninstall"
- If prompted to uninstall drivers associated with the device, tick the box and continue.
- Perform a restart of the laptop.

- Install the newest OEM(Original Equipment Manager) drivers from the Support Site.

Also make sure you have the newest BIOS, Chipset, Serial I.O, Management Engine Interface and Power Management drivers for your device:
You can find and install the newest drivers from the Lenovo Support Page
Just plot in the serial number of the device and hit enter, might have to press it twice, then head to Drivers & Software, select Manual Update, then select the BIOS, Chipset or Power Management section for their respective drivers.
Right click the files in question and select "Run as Administrator".
**Note: Make sure the AC adapter is connected and that you have at least 30% battery charge when performing BIOS updates.

Regards

Voithos

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Because it actually works.

I have had the exact same issue. I tried resetting the monitor to Factory Settings, uninstalling graphics drivers using DDU, and downloading the monitor drivers again. Please let me know if you resolve it at all!

Its like no one has ever thought to do that until tech support tells them.

I'm getting a replacement monitor, we'll see how that works.

Check out these links that I have researched:

https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=7473

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2xSHAhTifg

The 2nd link deals exclusively with the Y25-25 and the first one is mentioned in a solution, though the solution was not exactly clear as day without the working YouTube link.
