Hello all, could you please advise with getting to those **bleep** 160hz ? I went and bought a reduction from DP to DP mini as I have a laptop (Y740) and I got to 144hz. I have the G-sync version and I am using RTX 2070 Max-q. Thanks for any input.

Hello Minimi7,

If you are running any resolution apart from 2560x1440, then I do not believe you will be seeing any 160hz as the DP/Mini-DP port (v1.4a) does not support this frequency at other resolutions.

See DisplayPort Wiki

and under: Refresh frequency limits for standard video

And as the 1.4 is between the ver. 1.3 and 2.0 , it is most likely on the HBR3 Transmission Mode with a Maximum Data Rate 25.92 Gbit/s

The only close to the 160hz frequency I can see is on the 2560x1440 resolution, which is 165hz.

In the event you can't see all resolutions, follow this step:

Within the NVIDIA Control Panel, under Display - > Change Resolution, there should be a checkbox that says "Show only TV Resolutions".

If you still are unable to get 160hz, then the solution might be that it's just not compatible with the cable you are running and/or resolution you are trying to run.

Regards

Voithos
