Lenovo Gaming Mouse MS-172 stopped working

2015-02-10, 19:06 PM

My mouse was working perfectly for several months, then suddenly stopped working. It still lights up, but that's it. I downloaded the latest driver for it, but that didn't help.

Plugging your mouse into another computer without the Lenovo drivers installed should have at least produced a generic mouse listing in Windows Device Manager.  If the mouse isn't being listed on either computer in Device Manager then I suspect that the mouse has died.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Have you tried uninstalling the driver, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy ?

Does the mouse work on another computer ?

Thank you for your suggestions, but no luck. Uninstalling/reinstalling the driver failed and when I tried the mouse on another computer it didn't work there, either. I'm running Windows 8.1 (64-bit) and my pc is the Lenovo Erazer X700. When I check Device Manager "Mice and other pointing devices" my Lenovo isn't listed, which doesn't make sense, but I know little about computer operation so perhaps I'm misunderstanding. If you can think of any other possible fixes, please let me know. I miss my Lenovo mouse!

Thank you for your help. I'm sad about losing a mouse that was only 5 months old. I'm not an avid gamer, only a casual player at best, so its demise is confusing. I think I'll stay away from Lenovo mice from now on.

5 months old ?

If you still have the paperwork on the mouse check to see if it's still covered by a warranty.  I can't seem to find your model, but other Lenovo mice I looked up had a 1 year replacement warranty.  If it does have warranty remaining then give Lenovo Support a call.
