Lenovo Legion Y27gq-25 : Monitor fan runs continuously

2021-02-27, 17:00 PM

My monitor fan is running continuously, even if computer is off. Deep sleep setting is ON ( both DP and HDMI ). PC is connected to monitor by using Display port cable and GPU is RTX3080.  I understood that fan should go off after 15-20 min when computer is powered off. Fan is pretty silent, but it is ON.

Any ideas what could be done  or check ?

Hello @vepasto,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If the monitor is still connected to power they are typically still left on a low power state (usually indicated by the amber light near the power button). If this is the case that would mean that the monitor still requires some sort of cooling overtime since it is still technically on just in a low power state.

Hope this helps.
Regards,

Thanks for your quick response! Ok, I thought that deep sleep mode is really deep sleep. And yes, amber light is on. I assume that if I turn monitor off by pressing monitors power button ( amber light goes off ) fan also stops ? But if I use monitor as I used to ( without turning monitor off manually) , fan will run 24/7 for several years.....is that ok ? And another question: what deep sleep mode is actually doing ? Unfortunately manual does not explain this feature so well. In this case, is deep sleep mode actually same as standby mode ?

Hello @vepasto,

Thanks for writing back.

Deep sleep is meant for easy monitor power up when the computer is powered on.

Hope this helps,
