Possible Backlight bleed Legion Y27Q20 - photos included

2020-01-17, 15:54 PM

I notice the following possible bleeding whenever a dark screen comes up. The left bottomside is the worst when playing games or watching some netflix.

can someone confirm that this is not normal?

Hi Refur!

Does it affect the performance of the display such as color/contrast when you play a video? If yes, please do contact our support team for warranty claims.

I have this problem too. Note that the photos you posted are a lot overexposed.

This seems to be a problem that both y27q-20 and LG27GL850 owners have, haven't heard enough VS XG270QG users. (All of three monitors use the same LG nano IPS panel)

Now what we need to know from Lenovo is if this is just a QC problem and we can have PROPER units with NORMAL ips glow, or we have to move to another brand, maybe VA panels.

Glow/BLB on this panel is so bad that is noticeable in a BRIGHT room in movies/games.

I've tried FOUR. Four different y27q-20 all exhibit this problem, with the very best of them im gonna post soon a photo of it, compared to a 89 eur IPS from samsung.

We aren't stupid. We know IPS panel defect, but we also know that IPS glow/blb shouldn't be noticeable at all when you sit straight center and use normal brightness (I use 20 on my Y27Q-20 and i can still see it and is very distracting!!)

Both rooms are very lit with 6500k LED lamps above my head, so very good condition for a IPS panel. Photos are taken with ISO 100 and underexposed, note that they are still a bit overexposed, 89 eur monitor has almost 0 glow from real life and i haven't yet have turn down factory brigthtness to 120cd,.

EDIT: What you see in top right is the 6500k lamp reflection, not IPS glow. Top glow is NON existent on this monitor.

89 eur, Consumer samsung IPS panel, factory brightness.

EDIT: what you see in Top center is again, just a lamp. This only further proves that there's plenty of light and how bad this monitor is.

700 eur, Lenovo y27q-20, factory brightness was 80, turned down all the way to 20. SRGB mode. Everything untouched. I didn't bother taking 80 brightness photos because no one would use the monitor at that.

Straight to the point. LENOVO, is this related to LG panel quality, or can you do something to provide us proper panels? We provided you proper money without defects, thank you.

EDIT: an additional photo in dead center before someone says that i took them from a different angle... even if actually this just makes it worse LOL
