No successor for the yoga book?

Hi

Does anyone have any idea if there will be a successor to the yoga book (Android)? The device is almost out of stock, but there is still no information about a successor. The more conferences that pass by without news, the more worried I am. For me the Yoga Book was the perfect device, despite some quirks. Especially the combination of elegant light weight tablet and drawing board, steplessly adjustable in the angle, I find absolutely appealing and useful. (The Halo keyboard is nice, but less important for my applications.) I can't find a comparable device on the market and would find it extremely unfortunate if this new device category would disappear again Smiley Sad

There have also been no new models of yoga tabs for a long time. Lenovo, what are you doing? (*worried*)

Thanks for any news and best regards

Same question here. Waiting for the successor of the Yoga Book (Windows) with better specs.

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

Hello Spitfire_ch

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

I`m looking forward to the next model of the Yoga Book as well.

This model always reminds me of how Virtual Reality headsets are, in a way, it`s the first generation.

The YogaBook has truly managed to capture my interest as an artist, but decided against actually getting one, this is mainly because once I had a chance to spend about 5 mins with the unit to try it out, I realised that as great of an idea this may be, there is a lot of room for improvement.

For example, I would have trouble using the keyboard, the vibration wouldn`t really be enough feedback for me to be able to type fast and comfortably, I would love to see an option in the next version where perhaps you can exchange the keyboard with the drawing pad physically, like a slat that could fit over top of the keyboard. or maybe the screen lifts up to reveal the keyboard, not sure, didn`t really think into logistics yet.

But yes, I would agree that nothing curerntly compares to this badboy, I would like to see maybe a bit more power in it, even if it means a few extra inches of thickness.

Like I said, first generation, and considering that the model is not that old just yet, I would expect that it will another year at least before a new model would be announced, mostly because the current model works well and seems to be a solid design for now.

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

I certainly hope you are right! The fact that the first version is disappearing from the stores is somewhat bothering me. It could mean Lenovo has abandoned this kind of innovative product, or it could mean that a successor will soon be announced and Lenovo is selling off the first generation. Let's hope for the latter!

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

I think the reason they are not making as many of these, is because this unit doesn`t exactly have a target audience I guess.

I suppose it would be aimed at artists best, but most artist either already have a digital screen to work on, or no money to afford one of these Smiley Very Happy

So it sort of becomes that niche market group that will either buy or wont buy the product, which needless to say, will not make a profit, better to play it safe and make less and use whatever is left to design and work on the new model than to make more and waste assessts.

I wouldn`t imagine that Lenovo would abandon this design, its the first of it`s kind if I know correctly, however, I think it definitely needs to offer more so it would appear to a larger audience.

Lenovo always seems to make great progress with their 2in1 line of models, so I`m certain they wont dissapoint with their new spin on this guy.

Either way, we can only hope Smiley Happy

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

Wise and encouraging words, thank you Smiley Happy

P.S. I am probably using the device for purposes other than those intended; unfortunately I am not an artist. The book is also perfect for reading and annotating PDF documents (highlighting, scribbling). In contrast to other tablets with pen input, the screen does not have to be flat on the table. Instead, you can write comfortably on the pen area and look straight ahead at the screen. This is much more comfortable for the neck than working with pen & paper or other tablets in forward bent posture.

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

Interesting, I suppose it would be fairly useful for that as well, you should share how you use the unit here if you`re up for it:

A fellow forum user started the thread, it would be interesting to see what different people use this guy for.

Great, I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the link! Yeah, I think that might make the niche a little wider.

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

When I saw that the available stock had dropped below 10, I lost my nerve and ordered a replacement. If my main device broke down and I couldn't order a replacement, I'd be screwed.

Re: No successor for the yoga book?

Given that android apps work pretty well on chrome os right now and the first chrome os tablet is out. I am more and more interested in a chrome os based yoga book right now. it will be a perfect replacement of my old android tablet.
