Stay at 6.0 or update to 7.1.1?

2018-09-14, 7:59 AM

I'm buying a Yoga Book and reading this forum I have one doubt: should I stay at 6.0 or update to 7.1.1?

I have updated my YB to 7.1.1. It runs smoothly and is more functional than before. After a month or so, I had no problems at all. Yo won't regret it.

I know I'm late to the party, so did you update or stay with 6.0?  I was fustraded the updates trying to get to 7 and during one of the updates, the wifi disconneted on my yoga book and never came back on.  No matter how many restarts, hard reboots, wipe cache or anything else I did.  I ended up returning it to the store for a refund.  I'll wait and see if Lenovo ever comes out with an update yoga book or not, I'll stick with chromebook for now since it gets updated on a consitant basis and will be supported for more than one year.

What about the battery? I read that it's worse in 7.1.1.

Also, I think I'd prefer the multiwindow implementation in 6.0.1.

Android 7 is far better by 6. The battery consumption is better too. In stand by my YB lasts for a week before its battery drops down to 25% (to reduce excesive battery strain, I never let it drop bellow 25%). It is faster and personally I prefer the side-by-side app implementation in 7.

How much screen on time do you get? Streaming videos for example.

Not sure how much because I am not using it just for streaming video. By being say very active, reading plus viewing videos plus listening to music (I do not play any games), it lasts 4 to 5 days.

Sometimes its back turns warm.

It seemed like more apps worked better on Android 6. For example now a lot of apps won't rotate to landscape and the small multi window feature isn't a thing anymore.

All apps rotate same as before. It may be that some apps have now an upgraded view for large lanscape tablets. I did not notice anything else but that. The multiwindow feature is still there. Hold the square button and select the second app to fill up the next space.

"All apps rotate same as before.."

No they do not. Instagram among a few others stay in portrait mode.

"The multiwindow feature is still there. Hold the square button and select the second app to fill up the next space"

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the tiny windows, the one where about 3 would fit on the screen.
