Yoga Book Android - Accidentally disabled predictive text on Halo Keyboard

2016-10-27, 12:48 PM

Does anyone know how to disable/enable the predicitive typing feature for the Halo (not on screen) keyboard on the Lenovo Yoga Book? I was typing a message in Hangouts and must have bumped something because I recieved a message on screen saying "Predictive Typing Disabled" and now I no longer get the autocorrect  / predictive typing features when using the Halo keyboard.

I've don't see an option for this in the Android settings menu under Halo Keyboard either. I've tried a multitude of possible key combinations and can't seem to turn it back on. I don't see this listed anywhere in the user manual and it's frsutrating that their is not an easy way to just re-enable it.

I also tried to submit this question to Lenovo support but it keeps telling me it can't find the serial number for my device :robotmad:

Settings > Language & Input > Touch Pal > General Settings > Keyword Suggestion (enable)

Note you must have an enabled Touch Pal as well, in you disabled it by mistake:

Settings > Language & Input > Current Keyboard >  TouchPal

Hello, thank you for the response. I have tried this but TouchPal only seems to impact the onscreen keyboard and NOT the Halo keyboard. Regardless of what I set for a keyboard in Android the "Physical Keyboard" setting is always "Halo Keyboard".

I tested it, when you use TouchPal and the predictive settings as I suggested, then when typing on the Halo Keyboard you get the predictive typing from TouchPal on the screen. Is that what you are looking for?

Yes, I have checked these settings and still no luck. Attaced are screenshots of my settings menus and an example of me typing without suggestions showing for predicitve text. I'm at a loss at this point.

Strange. Do you recall how did you accidentally disable it? Few things to try (i) restart the tablet. or turn on off and then on, (ii) settings > apps ... in options click show system apps, disable touchpal, then enable it again and see if that works. Finally, the ultimate solution is to (iii) Factory Reset the tablet, but you will might be loosing the data. Settings > Backup & Restory > Factory reset.

Not sure how I disabled it, happened while I was typing. I think I pressed the "FN" key and something in the lower left, it then displayed the message that predictive typing was disabled. I've tried a reboot, and disable/re-enable of the app with no luck. I will try the factory reset at this point.

Found this shortcut list on XDA, maybe the Shift+Enter one will do the trick? ;-)

Shift+Space = change keyboard language
Ctrl+Space = does also change some language, but I am not shure what exact does change
Shift+Enter = word preview on/off
Alt+Tab = Switch app
strg+a = select whole text
strg+shift = change input method
strg+down = android status bar
alt+left and alt+right = backward and forward in Chrome
