Wishlist for a future update

2019-03-24, 6:43 AM

Hey,

maybe I am naive but let's try to put a wishlist for a future update together. Hopefully Lenovo is reading it :-)

My Wish: I would like to be able to group my notes in the e-ink Software, maybe in folders but without the use of onenote

Stefan

Some software update improvements I think that would be nice that I can think of currently:

1) For the modern keyboard layout where the trackpad gets hidden for larger key buttons, the trackpad is too narrow vertically. I realize they did this so all the keys show minus the space bar but they need to make it another inch or two taller as it impedes smooth two finger scrolling where you end up scrolling up past the trackpad, causing the hiding of the trackpad since you accidently press the keys. Ideally, they should get rid of the left and right trackpad virtual buttons (useless for me as I just use one finger tap/two finger right click) and make one of the side buttons a swiping gesture where you can gesture swipe down to hide the trackpad when you don't need it. Currently to hide the trackpad, you have to click another button elsewhere on the keyboard which is not a good user interface. Giving us a swipe down bar option on one side of the trackpad allows us to quickly/easily hide the trackpad, in addition to making a larger trackpad covering more of the keys a more viable option, leaving the option to open/close the trackpad easily. The other classic keyboard layout makes the keys too small to actually type efficiently so that keyboard option is useless. The modern layout keys is the better size for normal typing usage and they could easily improve it with the features mentioned above.

2) The double tapping to switch between the eink screen and regular screen is too **bleep** sensitive. The screen automatically switches inadvertly when I'm holding in tablet mode. Similar to when you set down the device on a table where it incorrectly senses a double tap and opens the screen, the screen switches thinking a multiple touch on the other side is you double tapping. It's so annoying and it happens every time I switch to tablet mode, especially when reading an ebook on the eink screen. They need to make it a 4 tap switch instead of a 2 tap to prevent accidental screen switching.

3) The ebook software needs a complete overhaul. It's too simple compared to features offered in a kindle in relation to user interface options (bookmarks, highlighting, defintion lookup, chapter summary switching,  etc.). The engineers should get couple ebook devices like the kindle and incorporate similar features for the yogabook. This yogabook competes with a PC/tablet/ebook/note taking device. Each set of features on the yogabook should be as good as competitors individual devices feature wise.

Well I don't have one yet, but really want to pull the trigger.  This is what would do it for me...

1) Be able to annotate PDFs on the eInk screen.

2) Kindle reader on the eInk screen.

3) 8GB of RAM would help too. (I see another post suggests this could happen)

4) Offer the higer spec models in the UK. Why haven't we got the i5 or 256GB of storage?!)

Oh, and some parity in pricing would be nice, right now it's on offer on both sites:

US $790 for an i5 256GB
UK £1000 (Approx $1300) for an M3 128GB

The UK price does include VAT (sales tax), but even if you add 20% to the US prices it's still not close and the US model is superior.

And to continue talking to myself, I've just seen the UK model doesn't include the pen and the US one does.

Why???!!!

+1 to all of those. The UX for the e-Ink screen needs a pretty comprehensive overhaul. The most needed feature in the ebook reader for me is that it needs to remember the last position of each document that I open so I can switch between different documents without losing my place every time. It's incomprehensible to me that such a basic, must-have feature is not present in something that calls itself e-Reader.

May I suggest a quick fix from Lenovo to improve the TouchPad by moving the menu selection bar from the top to the bottom of the eInk screen, then the TouchPad could be taller by about 1cm. That would already make some of us happier.

Also, good to add 2 immediate options:

1. Add a button in the menu bar to toggle the show/hide of the TouchPad in the modern keyboard.

2. Allow the option for TouchPad without 2 side buttons.

I'd love to be able to shift the touchpad to the left or right. I often find myself clicking the right klick bar when scrolling. The scrolling hand naturally rests a bit to the right.

Would be great to add another option to use the EInk as handwriting input to insert text at the cursor point on the main display.
