Been having some trouble with the fingerprint reader.
1) it has generally been slow in operation. Many times it takes a few times before it works right. I've tried redoing it a few times. Just seems hit or miss.
2) Sometimes after opening the lid the fingerprint reader doesn't turn on.

I don't notice an increase in reliability with the update - unfortunately.
My current workaround consists in adding the same finger everytime that Windows doesn't recognize it - this has increased the effectiveness considerably (from 1 out of 5 to say 1 out of 2 or 3).

Same here regarding the original post's problem.
When registering fingers, I keep getting "Your device is having trouble recognizing you. Please try again." If I lift and scan my finger again, its hit or miss if it works or continues to give me the same message. Eventually, I can do it enough times for it to finish the fingerprint registration process. I'd say the successful scan to failed scan ratio is about 1:4.
When trying to unlock with my fingerprint, it almost never successfully recognizes my fingerprint and, after a couple of failed scans, Windows requires my PIN to unlock.
I've updated the fingerprint reader firmware but that didnt appear to help.
Are many others experiencing similar results or is it just a few of us?

I agree, I have been frustrated with the fingerprint reader. I pretty much have been using my pin. The fingerprint scanner was a big selling point for the device for me and I am disappointed with its usage. I did update the firmware, reinstall drivers, and even call Lenovo help on the issue. Ultimately, I was told to call Microsoft. I personnally think it is a software or firmware issue. Debating on if I should return the device or continue to struggle until a fix is released. My finger print scanner on my other laptop just works.
