Hi guys,
I bought a Lenovo Yoga laptop just recently and having been using it as my main laptop for the past 2 or 3 weeks.
For the first week or so I have been using my laptop with care. Checked forums and read online that optimal usage of laptop so as not to degrade the battery.
Some of the things I have been doing were:
- to start charging when laptop hits 40%.
- Not to let it run down to 0% or critical levels
- Not to leave it charging at 100%
- Not to let it get too hot
As I followed these tips, I noticed that Battery capacity would go down very slowly.
Its max capacity is at 60 mWh. After a day see it go down to 59.97mWh, then 59.88mWh, 59.79mWh (just a few days ago) and so on. (I checked using the Lenovo Vantage app Battery details and through CMD powercfg battery report.)
Then I read on Conservation Mode and how it supposedly helps preserve battery life, keeping it at 60% then stops charging, the usual info. So I then started using conservation mode a few days ago. I'd keep the laptop plugged on AC on conservation mode. I use the laptop for class, so Microsoft Word, Google Chrome, the occasional games like Dota 2 and Apex. This is when I see drastic change in my battery capacity. after a 4 days it is now down to 58.58mWh.
2 days ago my battery capacity was at 59.47mWh. Yesterday it was at 59.17mWh. And today it is at 58.58mWh.
This is really shocking to me to see battery capacity decrease so much. When I did not use conservation mode, and charged it when it got to around 30% or so to full and used it like a laptop, it would decrease by say 0.06 - 0.1mWh per day or per charge. Its just really surprising to see my battery capacity degrade so much after a few days of Conservation mode
Has anyone had the same issues? Is this something to worry about? Or is it just an inaccurate reading of the Battery Capacity. Would love to get input from you guys.
