YOGA Book (YB1-X91F) cannot be recovery

2020-01-28, 7:30 AM

Hi, i need help as there is no Chat support or online support for this product from lenovo.

i had followed the support help on Lenovo,

In the reset this PC screen,

there is two options: keep my files of remove everything,

i had the recovery keys.

i had tried both, and it came to a screen saying there is problem resetting.

there is also no recover USB or file on the lenovo members page.

now, my book is useless and also cannot start from previous windows. is only blue screen now.

Can someone help in telling me where to get help?  or where i can get a file to download to start again?

Thank you very much.

Follow the instructions from Microsoft to create a Windows 10 USB pen drive, you may need to order a 8GB USB pen drive and a USB-C to USB adapter.

This page also contains instructions to create recovery media once everything is up and running again. For this you will require a 16GB USB pen drive at the time of writing this reply.

The alternative is to order recovery media from Lenovo here. If your serial number is not valid, try swapping a zeroes for letters and the other way around. Remember all letters are uppercase.

Hello Anexus

Ca you let me know what error do you get when you try the second option to reset(Remove Everything) because normally that option should just reload the Original OS that came from factory. If the machine came with Windows 10 then you can download the media from link below:

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/za/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-p1-type-20md-20me/20md/downloads/order-recovery-media

Regards,

Thule

You can use the Media Creation Tool from the microsoft support pages to make an install usb disk which you can use. (Probably best to do that from a another computer. I usually do a Google search to get it when I need it.) This will give you the option to reset or recover and have the files to do it, This can be done by booting from the USB disk or from within Windows. In this case you'll have to boot from it, I guess. The Yoga Book doesn't have a recovery partition as I recall - this might be the problem you're having with that. The blue screen could be indicating a problem that is hardware related though so this may still not work.

Space on the hard drive could also be an issue - depends how much data you have and space left, but it would be best to have a backup of your data if you possibly can, in which case you can remove the data to make space. You may need to to a do a completely fresh install overwriting everything (including the partitions) but then you will need to be careful about re-installing the drivers and supporting software from the Lenovo support site (install chipset drivers, multimode etc. first), and this will wipe all your data of course.

That's the Lenovo site - I specifically said the Microsoft site. Just Google "Windows 10 download" - should be near the top. (I use Duckduckgo myself.)

Blue screens usually mean hardware problems. Follow this guide and see if works.
