It is possible since you have mentioned that after the update it stopped working. Do you remember which update was it? Let's check if this is an issue with the driver. Please go to the Device Manager and check the touch screen. To go to the Device Manager, press Windows key and R, type devmgmt.msc, then click OK. On the Device Manager Window, please look for Human Interface Devices and click > to expand the list. Then, look for HID-compliant touch screen and right click on it then select uninstall. Put a check mark on delete drivers for this device if prompted, then select OK or uninstall. Restart the laptop and check if the issue persists.
