Yoga Book tested for Windows 10 Version 1709

2017-09-30, 13:06 PM

Greetings community, below is the link of the Lenovo devices that are tested to work with Fall Creators Update.

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505322

Lenovo Yoga Book is listed there in the Windows Tablet section with the following "limitations":

 - The camera screen shows green garbage when switch front/main camera.

- Can't write english by handwritten input on software keyboard.

- After connecting to VGA monitor ,the monitor will disconnect automatically in one minute.Unplug the VGA  monitor. The OS will be normal.

Can anybody explain what does it mean? or confirm if it's safe to do the upgrade?

Thank you

That looks to me like feedback from a single user. Under what circumstances I could only make an uneducated guess. But it could be from a pre-release version of the update anyway.

I would suggest waiting until the update is released then:

Make a system backup. (And a seperate backup of your data -  just in case)

Install the update.

If it goes well, hurray -  if not restore the system backup.

Report back to this forum for the aid of other users.

This is what I think a responsible IT tech would say (regarding any major update) and what experience has taught me is a sensible thing to do.

(I'm not implying I actually take my own advice all the time, but it's probably what I will do.)

Thank you davidbenton. I'm feeling so confused because my Yoga Book running 1703 is full of problems. For example, Windows Spotlight is not working anymore. Edge is bugged as well. So I'll be updating to 1709 in attempt to fix all the issues.

Also do you suggest updating the BIOS for the Yoga Book? And how to do that if you know..

I don't run Edge or Spotlight so I couldn't comment on that. I can't see that a bios update would make a difference to them. To update the bios just download the files, follow the instructions given which is basicaly just run the .exe file while the device is connected to external power supply. (backup and make a note of your bitdefender key if you are using pro and bitdefender is not disabled - you may need it)

I would imagine running system checks would be a good idea but I know almost nothing about them.

sfc /SCANNOW and dism seem to be the things that get suggested elsewhere - but like I say, I don't know about them.

Running sfc /SCANNOW in an elevated command prompt (ie: as admin) might help and wouldn't do any harm.
