5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

Received my 5Plus from Amazon a couple of days ago and the only (albeit major) issue is that phone calls are extremely poor to the point that a conversation is impossible.   I have Verizon as my provider.

 

The Verizon SIM was originally used with an Iphone 6, then a Moto G4, and now the G5 Plus.   I had no call issues with either the iPhone 6 and the G4 - same Verizon SIM.

 

Any thoughts/ideas/etc on resolving this will be much appreciated!

Try turning off "Enhanced LTE" under Settings>Wireless & Networks more>Cellular Networks> ... let me know if that helps.

Hi,  I turned off Enhanced LTE but the call quality didn't improve any.

Thanks though.   Hopefully there'll be an easy solution to this.   Apart from that issue, the phone is pretty good ... and for the price paid, it's a really great deal.

Does it happen in a specific location? Have you checked if you have enough signal strength to make or receive a call?

Hi Anne, it happens all the time - receiving and placing calls, regardless of signal strength.

 

I've tried Skype on it and it works great - on both wifi and cell network.

So it works when you`re using 3rd party apps. Have you reached out to your provider regarding this concern?

Hi Anne, no I haven't reached out to Verizon yet.   I can switch the SIM card back to my Moto G4 and to my iPhone6 and both can make/receive clear calls.   So the problem seems specific to the G5 Plus.

Have you tried a different sim on your G5 plus?
