The keyboard layout design is a "masterpiece" again
Why there are two Esc, Delete, Home, End keys ?
Lenovo, could you please look back and (re)design a normal useable keyboard layout ThinkPad had for almost 20 years.
Amen!

Because this is an internal render picture done with Photoshop - it appears to be a X1 Carbon 2nd gen keyboard with the Adaptive bar removed via Photoshop and the F-keys and the TrackPoint buttons added. #photoshopfail But since this is internal to Lenovo, it shoudln´t concern you^^
Besides, there is also a render with the real layout: http://forum.ixbt.com/post.cgi?id=attach:17:51733:61:1.png And this is exactly 100 % the same keyboard as T440(p/s).

And thus crappy, which is the point. The keyboard issue is a big part of why I'm still using my T420s, with the last great ThinkPad keyboard. I've been a ThinkPad fan since the legendary 600, but my T420s may well be the last ThinkPad for me.

The best notebook keyboard layout of 2015 goes to ... MSI ! http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-presents-GT80-Titan-gaming-laptop-with-GTX-980M-SLI.134152.0.html

Maybe, but the machine is a boat anchor.

Yes. My point is that it is possible to design useable keyboard layout in 2015.

Of course it is. Just bring back the keyboard from the T42x-series. Nothing new needed or desired.

Yes. That is point of my message. While Lenovo can not, MSI can. That's all.

Lenovo can, it's just chosen not to, and the MSI keyboard isn't really relevant, since it's part of a boat anchor, and wouldn't work well in a T-like machine.

I am also very disapointed with the new keyboard layout. I find much more convenient to use SHIFT-DELETE, CTRL-INSERT, SHIFT-INSERT shortcuts for cut, copy, paste because they can be used with the right hand together with shift, control and arrows keys. My left hand being on letters keys or on the mouse.
I hope that Lenovo will bring back the full legacy keyboard. As previously said, Thinkpad are professional tools and productivity should prevail over design.
If a single evolution should be done on keyboards, this would be to add dedicated keys for cut/copy/paste. As a developer, on my desktop I now have a programmable "gamer" keyboard to get such direct access and also to be able to record repetititve strokes on the fly.
