Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

[ Edited ]

Hey Everyone,

It seems a lot of you are having what amounts to Wireless drops when using your T420. I have not had this issue on my T420 but this doesn't mean its not an issue or that your not having an issue.

My Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205, Windows 7 64 bit, I5 3320M are my T420 specs and would make the same suggestions other have done for you guys having the wireless issues. Update your drivers and post what version you update to. Try using the computer on another network like at work or home or vice vers. Checking and updating the router. If you can post back with if any of this fixed your problem or not we can take the next step.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Hi.  I went to the Intel site and downloaded the latest drivers (that it suggested)  Version 15.1.1.  I removed all previous drivers and proceded to install the drivers only.  When the system restarted it still failed to connect to the internet using my FIOS WPA2 connection.

The system would connect to the router, then try to connect to the internet (yellow warning sign on connection) and then drop it and continue to retry.

I can easily connect to my iPhone hotspot and to my neighbors connection (no security).

The router says it is up to date and is set to combo n/g.  I have no issues with any other devices (n or otherwise).  With the following devices attached:

Kindle Fire

iPad2 (2x)

iPhones (2x)

Laptops (2x) wireless g

Wii

Based on that I have to assume that it is the wireless on the T420.  My last resort is to disable the "n" on the laptop - but I really don't want to do that.

Thanks

Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Have exactly the same problem with T420 and N6300. It's seems to fail more often if there are other devices connected to the router.

I Hope someone find the solution

Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Its most likely a WiFi driver problem. That controller is as good as they get.

Also some router don't support some of the protocols well. Plenty of issues with various brands of router if you google for them.

I updated from what I with my system but even this is rock solid and I am running an 11n connnection. This was a Lenovo supplied driver package. Check althernate protocol selections for WPA or WPA2

non secured routers aren't ever a problem so that no test and meaningless. What route are you using. Its likely a router problem in dropping. Other related posts on dropping  but make sure the Turn off to save power is disabled in you systems configuration. FIOS router have a lot of dropped connection issues. I just googles and its an router problem that some people have resolved.
When the flag appears means something else is wrong and is not connected to the internet. Its logged in and not autheticated fully and/or TCIP problems usually due to router settings.

Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

[ Edited ]

I used to have dropping connection issues. Sometimes the T420 would have problems and everyone else would be fine, other times it was the T400 or the PS3. The issues would normally resolve with a reboot of the router. Eventually I got fed up with the problem and flashed with DD-WRT. My router has worked flawlessly since then.

I manage to use 250GB+ per month over my 7Mbps down / .75Mbps up pipe. I rarely use Bittorrent, unless I'm downloading a Linux distro or something like that. I've hear that using Bittorrent and other file sharing can swamp a router and mean that you should upgrade to one with a better processor and more RAM. (Mine has a 300MHz broadcom chip w/ 32MB of RAM, and I've never seen it have more than 16MB of RAM in use.)

[SOLVED] Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Hi,

I also had this issue with my home wi-fi router - TP Link. Earlier I had a Belkin router and didn't have any issues, however with this one, the network connectivity drops like once very 2-3 mins, especially when I'm using the laptop in the first floor. My machine specs are the same as yours - T420.

Then what I did was simple. I logged on to the router configuration interface page (192.168.1.1.) and simply turned WPS off and set the security to WPASmiley Tongue. That's all. The connection has been as solid as a rock since then. No drops whatsoever. Hope this helps.

Re: [SOLVED] Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Have a fairly new T420 and after an upgrade to recent Access Connections software my RAM memory when sky high and basically shut down. It would do so after about a half hour of use, gradually being eaten up by background processes. I believe there was a bug in the software which a recent patch has fixed. However I had to work around an entire day of experimenting. At one stage I could not get a boot up at all. Now I have windows controlling the wi-fi (I have a 4g router at home here). I finally managed to get rid of the Access connections then install the new one again followed by the patch (or may by the patch was in there somewhere?) Anyway it works fine now but I can't return to allowing Lenovo to run the wi-fi since I don't know how to take theses management privileges away from windows.

The problem came after downloading new Access Connections software. Come clean Lenovo! What's up with the AC?

Re: [SOLVED] Re: urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

Hi,

I am wondering if anybody has the same issue? I have T520 and T430 that have the same issue. I am using TP-Link Router: TL-WR1043ND. Is this only between N6250 with certain router? Is there any other suggestion on how to solve this.

Ti.
