I don't see it as that drastic if we're now only waiting on a driver update.
I've been extremely happy with my E420s aside from this OpenGL support and muxless graphics switching under Linux (extremely poor battery life in that case).
I've not had any of the trackpad, heat, keyboard or any other issues people have been reporting with these models.

luckily Rage is a crappy game.
so you won't miss openGL much yet......... unless you need it for rendering or photoshop of course

Hello all. I'm new on the forum but I'm keeping an eye on this problem since my purchase of E520.
I hope Lenovo has got all necessary info about this problem but I wanted to let you know about one funny thing.
3 of 4 manufacturers have already fixed this problem. Exactly the same problem we have here (possibility of manual switching graphics on muxless). There was HP first, than Sony and about week or two ago - even Dell.
I'm not sure if it's funny or sad but I didn't expected that my ThinkPad would get so poor service. Hope Lenovo will bring us their solution (Bios switchable graphic option) soon.
I suppose some of you know this page but those of you who don't might get some useful info here - http://www.nhl.pl/index.php?showtopic=44623&st=260
- it's in polish but google translate helps for sure

BIOS switchable graphics would be the single biggest pain in the ass on this thing ever. Especially for people like me who never shut down their laptop and only put it to sleep.
A software switchable method would be nicest, one that we can control using the Windows power management or something so that when the laptop is plugged in it's automatically enabled as the default for example.

i totally agree. having to shutdown, switch on again, go to bios to change the graphics adapter and reboot, depending on the program i want to use is not really an option. and most of the times i use different programs at the same time.
@antrax: sorry for forgetting the e320, i only knew the 420 and 520
