Strange recurring "messenger enhancement" messages.

Our new moto e keeps getting this message that says "Messenger's enhanced features have been enabled (Confirmation ID: xxxxxx)"

 

The 6 digit number is always different. We get several per day, from sender 9197. Anyone know what these are?

They would be from your carrier and probably about RCS (Rich Communication Services or enhanced messaging).

Are you with Sprint?
Your carrier should advise you about what you need to do.

Thanks Cuddly. No, we use Boost Mobile. (Carried over from Virgin Mobile.) I'll contact them. Thanks again.

The Boost Mobile people gave me a "deep" reboot code and procedure, which we did. So far, so good. I'll wait a couple days then report back if the problem seems to be completely resolved.

Enhanced messaging or SMS+, been rolling out globally over past couple of years.

Yes. Exactly. At first, he walked me through the steps to turn off "Enhanced Messaging". But our phone doesn't even have that menu option. We do have "Advanced Messaging", but it can't be turned off, and is apparently something different.

 

So, the next suggestion, (which is what we did), was:

 

  1. Turn off Bluetooth and Wifi, but leave Mobile Data on.
  2. Restart phone.
  3. Dial ##72786#
  4. You'll get several warnings. Ignore them and hit continue.
  5. The phone should restart twice.
  6. Turn your Bluetooth and Wifi back on. (If you use them.)

 

That's it. Works so far.

Interesting, he gave you the carrier reset code (for CDMA I believe).

 

Do keep us updated but if all is well after a week or so come back to tell us.
This is bound to be useful to others.
