Android 11

2021-06-11, 19:17 PM

Hello from Bulgaria. After the latest android 11 update the animations are still laggy (fresh install, data wiped). Some times apps are freezing at opening. When we asked why it is taking so long to receive android 11 the answer was "because we want to be sure that everything is tested and you will receive the best experience". Really? And nobody noticed that the UI animations are laggy from the moment you turn on the device during the "testing"? Tested.... At least leave an option in the Rescue and Smart Assistant to switch back to Android 10....

Enable Developer mode (Settings > System > Developer options) and disable "Enable blurs" option.

Hi hara6oto1990,

I will try my best to help you with this. There is no option on both the phone and the repair and smart assistant to revert back to a previous Android software. Just to confirm, have you tried performing a "Rescue" using the rescue and smart assistant after updating your phone?

Best regards,

Yes. I turned off Blur and did "rescue" few times. Same thing. I have noticed that is happening after unlocking the device. After lock and unlock again it is fine. I think the problem is with the cpu or gpu clock speeds not switching correctly. Or something with the screen refresh rate, but it happens when 90hz is is cheked also. Thank you for trying to help.

I found the problem. The Moto widget battery and weather  animations are causing the app drawer stutter.

Hi hara6oto1990

Thanks for sharing this. I haven't heard similar reports on the widget. Can you please make sure Moto app and all other apps are up to date in Play Store? Also, see if you can try clearing data on Moto widget. Go to Settings > Apps & notification > see all apps > Moto widget > Clear storage or clear data. See if that helps.

Best regards,

Re:Android 11

Hi.

I'm from Italy.

I have the same visual lag after upgrading to A11.

When I was on A10 phone worked super smooth without any lags.

I partially solved it, or to say better, mitigated this lags disabling blur effect and substituting Moto App Launcher with another Launcher (dunno if I could write the name of it) because it has smoother animations so lag is less visibile.

Still, I feel that phone is working no more on 90fps and sometimes I think it drops on 45-30.

If it could help, I don't even have Moto Widget active, I disabled it as soon I started using this phone.

I am so sad because this phone worked wonderly on A10 and I had a huge disappoint when I saw how it runs on A11.

Hope that you find a way to properly fix this problem because I am a Moto customer since Moto G1 and I don't wanna swap company at all.

Hi motojitte

Thanks for trying to help. Can you please check if there's an update with the Moto app in the Play Store? Also, try booting your phone in safe mode and see if it's still the same with the stock launcher.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

Third-party apps are disabled in Safe mode.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Best regards,

Thanks for the quick reply.

First, there is no Moto App Launcher on Playstore, it's an app builded inside the OS so you can't update it without a system update.

Second, I tried the safe mode with stock launcher and it is still the same.

If you surf around the net a bit you'll see this is a common problem that for example also Moto Edge has, it's OS related.

Hallelujah!!

Android 11 finally arrived - so far all good, in fact phone seems a little more responsive

I'm sorry to hear that some folk are having problems - hopefully any issues will be sorted soon.

I can't be bothered with rooting & flashing custom ROMs anymore but glitches would often happen and sometimes a factory reset would sort things out - is this something people have tried?

Most importantly the phone is more secure again with security updates to 1st April

Let's not take so long next time Motorola and if there's an update to Android 12 in a year's time I might just stay with Moto, otherwise it's goodbye (again) ....
