Well, I received the Android 11 update for my Moto G 5G Plus and I still do not get the option to enable 5G network mode. I will never purchase another Motorola 5G phone again. I do not trust this company anymore. 5G connectivity should be enabled to work with all carriers and anywhere in the world. I never have a problem with Samsung, Huawei or other brands. Goodbye forever Motorola!

Just like we mentioned in the previous post, 5G connectivity depends if the phone supports the band and if the carrier provides certification for the specific phone model. That is why some carrier websites provide some information on which phones can use 5G connectivity. Please check with your mobile service provider to see if the phone is already certified to use 5G.

Thank you for your reply, but I have never had this problem with other brands. I also use a Huawei P40, which is not sold through any carrier in Canada and 5G network mode is readily available as an option. I contacted my carrier and I was told that 5G network mode should be available on the Motorola G 5G Plus as an option to choose, especially if the network supports any of the phone's compatible 5G bands, This phone does, indeed, supports my carrier's network bands for 5G...but still no 5G. They did not say anything about the phone not being certified. I think Motorola should make sure that carriers around the world certify their devices. Phones are not just used within regions of the world. People take their phones with them when they travel around the world. and like 4G LTE, expect to connect to 5G as well.

Communicated with my carrier again and I was told that it is up to the manufacturer to make sure that the phones are certified to work on 5G networks around the world. I guess Motorola does not want to do this for some reason.

Hi Leo.Mtl

I understand this is important for you. I'll see if we can ask around and confirm the 5G capability of the phone with your carrier.  Can you please update your forum profile with the current IMEI or Serial number from your device and let us know if we can look at some things from our end as well. See here for the instruction. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Privacy > Motorola Privacy is on. Thank you.

Best regards,
Rich

I received the Android 11 update and there is still no 5G support on this phone. I do not get the option to enable 5G in network mode.

Probably is  some software issue. Once you had 5G support with your carrier on Android 10 you must have it on Android  11 too.

Try to do factory restore and then try it again-if is sofware issue realted to update must work at this way.

If you dont get any change -must be a hardware related. In this case you must use a manufacture guarantee if is stil available.

I never got 5G in my country with my Moto 5G plus-neither on Android 10 and  11. Stucked forever on 4G+ with maximum speed of 150 Mbits.
