G Power vs G7

2020-07-25, 8:44 AM
Wife has a recently updated G7. My G power seems to be behind with regard to updates. Android 10 is on both phones but the G7 has a more detailed Moto launcher with many more options than my G power. Is the G power slated to get updates which include call screening and additional Moto actions?

With the exception of small variations like Moto Actions, Moto phones run stock Android like Pixel devices. Similar to Pixel devices, Moto phones have free Call Screen features via the Google Phone app. You can check the Play Store to see if there are any new updates available for the Google Phone app. Furthermore, you can also check with your carrier. Some carriers like T-Mobile offer more advanced, robust Call Screen features for their customers. As far as Moto Actions are concerned, only one feature has been changed. "Lift to Unlock," which uses facial recognition to unlock the device, was excluded from the Moto G Power. All other Moto Actions, which were present on the Moto G7 & the G7 Power, remains the same. You can check the Play Store for any recent updates to the Moto Actions app.

I have both phones side by side, they have the same carrier, and are on Android 10. There are MANY differences. The G7 is way ahead of the G Power. My original question: will the G Power receive the same updates as the G7.

The Moto G Power will receive Quarterly Security Updates including one major OS upgrade. You can follow updates at the Moto Updates Tracker on Telegram. Here's the link>

I had the same question but since this is Motorola - I believe I already know the answer. NO. I purchased a Moto G Fast for my mother, and while setting it up I noticed it had several new features that my Moto G Power, a more expensive phone, does not have. The new Moto Display which shows the weather, The new Moto Clock Widget, Moto Styles which allows you to edit the wallpaper, icon shapes, system wide accent color and save its profiles all without having to go to developer settings. It's to bad Moto phones are not unified, it would create a much better customer experience.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Would it be possible for you to screenshot these new features and post them on this thread? If these are indeed new or advanced features, I will be very angry that they were not included on my more expensive Moto G Power.

Hello all, there are many moving parts and there can be variations between models. Not all features will be on all models. I'd like to look at one feature at a time to help keep things straight. Let's start with Call Screening. You mentioned both phones are on the same carrier. Is that correct? If so can you try putting your wife's SIM card into your phone and see if the Call Screen feature works with her SIM in your phone?

I'm willing to try that with Sprint as long as you can guarantee me that won't screw up my service.

I really don't think this is a SIM card issue.
