Re:7 months without a security update?

Has this phone been abandoned? I bought the phone on Google Fi 4 months ago and the security patch is still from Jan. 1, 2021. I've never seen a phone (that was supposedly being supported) go so long without a security update.  I don't even care about Android 11. I heard it has worse performance and battery life than Android 10. But I do care about the phone being safe to use. I read that Verizon and Tracfone users are up to date with security patches and also have Android 11. Why is it so different for Google Fi and others?

Now I'm wondering if this was the reason it was so cheap on Google Fi.

Hi Morago

Welcome to Motorola forums and sorry to know about this I would like to inform you that we are looking into this. Please do not start new threads before searching for existing threads on the same topic. It causes clutter on the site and makes it harder for us to follow an issue. However, I have merged your post to that running thread.

Regards

Sandip

Sandeep, stop saying "we're looking into this."  That is obviously meaningless.  I want one of two answers from you: 1) "It is done." or 2) "It will be done on XX/XX/XXXX."

I now need the May update to be operational.  Next month it will be the June update.  Updates need to happen EVERY MONTH, and should NEVER be delayed more than ONE MONTH.

Or just send me the money and I'll buy a Pixel and throw this phone in the recycling bin.

+1 to that!

It can't be that I bought my phone with Google Fi as the carrier and I am not receiving Security updates!

I would also like to exchange this phone for a Pixel, so Motorola if you aren't on top of this, please stop sending "we are working on this" messages which clearly don't provide any useful information to your customers.

It's been a month since I reported this issue, nothing has changed in my phone yet...

4 weeks have passed and still no update in my phone...

By the time I receive security updates, it might be already obsolete.

Any follow up from Motorola in my case?

I'd like an update on this, too.  I didn't buy a phone to have it abandoned by the manufacturer.  I guess I could try and hold Google accountable as they were the agent that sold the phone and I didn't deal directly with Motorola.  But I'm not sure how far that would get legally.  But I'll likely never buy a Motorola product again based on this experience.  And this was my second Motorola, having previously had an X4.

Maybe what we need to do is open up multiple threads on the subject.  They seem to really respond to that quickly.  Probably more to keep the search engines from finding multiple complaints on the same subject more than anything else.

They even forced me to change my name on this Forum.  I've used Agent Subron for a long time, but it made it seem like I was somehow part of their team and they didn't like that.

Hi,

We are really sorry for the delay in security updates but we are trying to push the updates to all eligible devices as soon as possible request you to wait.

Sandip

It would help to have an estimate of how long to wait to avoid having to keep posting messages or reminders for a response. Having said that, any estimate on when to expect the updates to be pushed to our devices? I haven't received security updates or Android 11 in mine, and no follow up to my case has been posted other than Motorola ignoring the issue or requesting to wait (which at this point seems to infinity).

Good luck with holding Google accountable. I know that you aren't really going to try and hold them accountable but I thought that I would add this little post: https://www.blacklistednews.com/article/80534/billionaires-segregate-themselves-on-luxury-private-islands-as-ordinary-people-told-they-cant.html

To Android 11 Feb 2021 patch, or a security patch to either Android 10 or Android 11 that is more recent?
