Is it possible to change the default on the volume buttons on the side?

On my moto g stylus 5G, the volume buttons on the side have a default of controlling the media volume.  I have to use the little drop down menu to find the ring volume.  Is it possible to have the ring volume be the default - that's the one always adjust?

Hi @junieo,

Thank you for posting your feedback. I'm afraid there's no available setting or option on the Moto G Stylus 5G to change how the default volume buttons work. By default, pressing the volume buttons will always change the media volume. However, the phone has Google Play Store where users can download the features they want to add to their phones. We'll pass this along to our team. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be added.

We moved your post to the Moto G Stylus 5G community as you originally posted on the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) community.

Best regards,

Re:Is it possible to change the default on the volume buttons on the side?

Thanks again Mike.  After reading the manual, I kind of figure it was a permanent default.  I really like my phone, but that strikes me as a strange feature, but then I don't use my phone in the way most younger people do - to me it's basically just a phone!

Please fix this. Even if a person only uses their device as a phone, they especially should want the volume buttons to control the ring tone volume like every other phone ever made. It's really annoying the way it is.

Re:Is it possible to change the default on the volume buttons on the side?

Why would I want to control the media volume if I don't have media open? If I have media open it should control the media volume then. Again like every other phone

Re:Is it possible to change the default on the volume buttons on the side?

This is fixable only by installing a third party app, specifically "Volfix - volume control fix" by Soft Stack Dev. Why this is necessary instead of simply making a "choose which way you want it" option in the native software is beyond me. Seems like a truly foolish way to design the system, especially when there is such consistent demand for it.
