Android 11 killed my mobile data connection!

2021-05-02, 15:57 PM

I can't connect to 3G mobile data after Android 11 update.  I reset network settings, did not work. Did a full system factory reset, Android 11 still installed, no mobile data.

How do I fix this?

Thank you,

Steve

Hi Uglysteve,

I will try my best to help you fix this. Try checking if the preferred network type is set to 4G/LTE by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Advanced > Preferred Network Type. We also suggest to contact your carrier for additional troubleshooting steps and replace your SIM card. Let me know how it goes.

I don't have 4G/LTE available as an option, I have Automatic, LTE/CDMA, CDMA, GSM/UMTS as options. I have tried all but GMS/UMTS. How do I just revert to Android 10, everything worked before the automatic update ruined my phone. Thank you, Steve

The same happened to me (Saskatchewan, Canada). There is nothing wrong with the SIM. It works in another phone and I can access data. I took it to the service provider and a clerk put in the SIM from her own phone and it still would not connect to mobility data. She checked all settings for network accessibility. She determined the phone is to blame. I will be contacting Motorola Canada tomorrow to see what to do. I've had phone 36 days, and everything was working with data until last week. I updated to Android 11 a few days ago.

I have been working on this all day, with the service provider support via e mail. No luck yet.

Did you try a factory reset? That was next on my list of things to try.

I did a factory reset.  Did no good, still have Android 11. I entered new access point settings. Updated profile and PRL.   Nothing worked. Apparently a lot of people are having this problem. Sprint is looking in to it.  Apparently they also switched to a new GSM network. I buy Sprint data from a wholesaler.

I really wish the software guys would learn the old saying " If it aint broke, don't fix it". Android 10 worked perfectly. But someone needed to justify their paycheck. But now they can really justify it, by fixing the problem they created. They can just ley me down load Android 10, and truly revert to factory, out of the box software.

My phone is just 5 weeks old, so I'm sending it in for repair under warranty. I tried everything include 2 factory resets and nothing solved the connectivity issue with mobile data. Good luck in getting your phone back in working order. If you find a patch or some other solution, please let me know in case this happens again.

Hi Everyone,

Please update your profile with current phone, carrier and IMEI -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Need help updating your profile? See here. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Forum-Feedback/Complete-your-forums-profile/td-p/3339943
