Moto g 100 5g not enabled?

2021-04-13, 18:15 PM

Hello, I bought Motorola moto g100 few days ago. Although there is 5g already in my town I don't see option to use it with any of my SIM cards (I see only 2G, 3G, 4G for both SIMs). My SIM card which I use also for data is 5G enabled. Region is Slovakia - EU. Thank you for any help.

Ahh ok, I think we might be on to something here, just to test can you put in the O2 SIM and the 4KA SIM. Test with O2 set for data and 4KA as not. See if 5G shows up. What I'm thinking is the options will only show what is currently supported for the sim that is active for data. So in this case, if 4KA is set as the active SIM for data it will only show up to 4G as the phone does not support 5G on 4KA. Please test it and let me know.

Hello, I'd like to look into this further. What carrier are you using the phone with? I'll reach out to some people on my end to find out the status of 5G with the moto g100 on that carrier.

My carrier is 4KA (network can be also named SWAN). My second SIM is ORANGE. 5G is not showing for both.

Thanks for the additional information. So the phone is supposed to support 5G on Orange. For 4KA, 5G is not supported at this time. Can you test something for me. Please power off the phone, remove the 4KA SIM, and power up the phone with just the Orange SIM in the phone. Let me know if the 5G option shows up at that point.  Also, if you could, please advise how you have the phone configured for dual-sim. Did you have 4KA set as the Data SIM?

So in this case, if 4KA is set as the active SIM for data it will only show up to 4G as the phone does not support 5G on 4KA. Please test it and let me know.

You are right. In dual SIM mode with O2 set up for data and 4KA only for calls/SMS the 5G option appeared. Thanks a lot for this hint.

So if I want to use 5G with 4KA - do I have to wait for carrier to enable it? Or is it matter of Motorola to enable it in the future?

Hi,

in czech republic cant find O2 / t-mobile / vodafone 5G signal in areas where is 5G coverage..

I have tried all SIM cards with only one SIM card in the device and with micro SD in second slot.

Device is motorola g100 5G.

Can you give me please any advice how to enable 5G please / update carrier settings?

In settings i have enabled 5G(recommended).

With Samsung S21 is 5G working...

4G/LTE is working super fine.. i can scan also Band43 carriers Poda and NordicTelecom there.

Band43 is not supported on many many phones ~ big benefit from moto g100 :-)

Thank you very much.

Yes, for the 5G option to show up while using 4KA as the active SIM for data the phone will have to get support. As for if/when. I don't have this information currently. It could come down to the carrier giving approval or it could require an additional software update. However, that is the information we don't have available currently. Sorry, if I do get further information regarding 4KA, I will let you know though.
