Double tap (or similar) to sleep

2021-05-20, 16:10 PM

It seems to only way to send the G30 to sleep (if that is the correct term) is to touch the power button.

Has anyone got a screen-tap method that works?

I have tried a few Double-tap apps from the Play store but none of them work.

As I mainly use the phone for a short time, but often, this power button method is irksome.

Can anyone help?

I am in the UK, if that makes a difference.

Thank you.

Hello and thanks for posting. I personally have not used any of the 3rd party apps to perform this function. However, one option is to enable attentive display and a short screen timeout. This way when you set the phone down and it doesn't see your eyes, it will quickly turn off the display. I know it's not an ideal solution, but it might work for you.

Both Screen Timeout and Attentive Display are locations under Settings > Display > Advanced.

Let me know if that helps at all.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Mostly I use the timer on the phone to time the brew for a cup of tea (yes, an

expensive timer!).

I will check out your solution, but I still find it odd that you would normally be expected

to hit the power button to send the phone to sleep.

Thank you.

Jim.

Hi Jim, I appreciate your feedback. Keep in mind, none of our phones have had this double-tap feature. I know some older Moto phones had the ability to lock the screen from the fingerprint sensor, but now that fingerprint sensors have moved to the back or side of the phones, that feature is no longer offered. I'll make sure your feedback is seen by the proper people.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Tom

Hey hey, I do use a app for this functionality, the only difference being that it's not double tap on the screen, it's double tap on the back. (you can map a triple tap too btw)

And using this app, you can app the double tap in your back to many many things, like opening apps, going to home screen and much more stuff there, it's not available on play store..

It's called "Tap, Tap" I am not posting the link bit you can get it by searching for "Tap tap XDA" and from there on you can download the app from XDA..

I'd personally recommend using that!
