Hello and thanks for posting. I'm a tad confused by the screenshot you shared. Are you using the stock camera that came with the Moto G60? The reason I ask is I'm looking at the camera settings on my Moto G60 and they look nothing like yours. With the stock Moto Camera, the options I see for Selfie Camera are 32MP or 8MP which is 32MP / Quad Pixel.

As for Quad Pixel technology, it allows 4x better light sensitivity, but it combines the pixels 4:1 resulting in a lower resolution photo with better lighting.

Let me know,

Thanks,

Tom

That is very strange. If you can share a video that would be great. Also, what version of the camera software do you have installed?

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks for confirming, so yeah, I was on an older camera version on mine. Regardless, I think I know what's going on. It looks like you set the ratio to full or 9:20.5 which will reduce the resolution down. If you set it back to the default of 3:4 or 4:3 it will give you the option of 32MP or 8MP Quad Pixel. What you're seeing is correct. Whenever you set the Ratio to anything other than 3:4/4:3 it will have to crop the photo taken by the sensor resulting in a lower resolution.

I hope that makes sense.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Tom

It's working perfectly fine, that how pixel binning works!

It's a marketing gimmick from samsung and sony and other camera manufacturers.

What it does is group multiple small pixels and make it one huge.

There are some gains cause of this.

Also this lets OEMs put in big megapixel numbers for advertising their phones.

Even the Samsun flagships perform the same .

It's either 108mp ÷9 or 48/64÷ 4.

There are some gains but not much.

Also the high res option won't actually take the given resolution picture, it just upscales its base main resolution to match the given output.

Also it uses bayer filter "this mosaic causes patterns on details to blur" and it's the reason why iphone and pixel is sticking with 12MP sensors.

Though it's not a bad thing either, you do get more pixels for digital zoom in video recording.
