64-bit OS on g7 play in the future?

2020-06-15, 18:42 PM

Some apps are now requiring 64-bit OS (Pokemon Go, for example), and although the g7 play has 64-bit architecture, it runs 32-bit OS.  Is there a possibility that Motorola will change this?  I've read conflicting reports on whether or not this is even possible.

I've also read that the g7 play will receive Android 10 at some point - will that make it 64-bit?

Android-x86 9.0 (64-bit) does exist I'm sure someone will make a room since SD632 does support it.

Hi Tsequoia,

Software upgrade does not upgrade the processor. The phone runs 32-bit mode for best use of memory, compatibility and performance. If you are concern about applications, we have found this article discussing about 32 bit and 64 bit apps in Play Store.

 https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-to-64-bit-android-device-owners-no-more-32-bit-only-apps-from-aug-2021/

Let me know if you have a question. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich
