Apps minimizing by themselves

2020-03-19, 1:58 AM
I had my g7 power since June of 2019. I had absolutely no issues. A few days ago I decided the phone was starting to lag and slow down a little too much so for the first time and performed a hard factory reset. Ever since that all apps have been minimizing on there own at random intervals. Sometimes it's every 30 seconds and sometimes it's hours between. The app does not crash, when I get back to it, it's where I left off. But this is still very annoying. I tried doing another factory reset and it did not help. I also use no screen protector. I looked at all the settings I could go thru, like picture in picture settings, clearing cache, etc with no help. Finally I went to a Verizon store about it and they got me a warranty replacement and this phone is still doing the same thing. Please help, I love the phone besides this problem. I'm thinking it must be some sort of setting somewhere if it's done it on 2 seperate phones and no one else seems to be having the issue. The only aftermarket apps I have on the phone right now are Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify.

Does it do it in Safemode?

Press the Power button and on the Shutdown menu long press until the Safemode option  appears and take it.

Should I ask for another warranty one?

Hi Alexstenerson,

Thanks for posting. Does it also happen with no applications installed? Also when you've reset the device, did you perform it without restoring your data? If not, try doing a Factory Data Reset and turn off Automatic restore. Instead of automatically restoring apps after the reset, you’ll want to restore them one at a time to determine which is causing the problem. Please let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mike

Yes it does it with no applications installed. And when I do a reset I do it without automatic restore. I purchased another g7 power from Best buy and set it up the same way and this one does not do the minimizing.

We just bought three Moto g7 Power phones and have set up two of them. Both have this same problem of the active app randomly minimizing and return to home screen. It started shortly after we initially strated using them five days ago continues to happen...even during video recording and you video play. Just completely random. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply brian. I'm going to go back to the Verizon store and let them know I want credit towards a different phone or a refund if most of the g7 powers are going to do this.

Hi,

We are still looking to investigate this further. Can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your check-in data to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction.

Also, does this happen if the phone is just sitting on a table or only when holding? When this happen, is the phone connected to a charger?

Let me know. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

I'm using the g7 power that I purchased from Best buy now as this one does not have the issues. Can I still do that without it being connected to the service? It does it while on a table, like if I have the phone across the room playing music on YouTube and i am across the room it will still do it. It has done it both on and off the charger.
