G7 POWER no service after update

2020-03-24, 17:11 PM

I updated my G7 this morning and now I can't connect to my service provider. I tried to do it manually but it doesn't work. I tried rebooting, taking my sim card out and putting it back and all the other suggestions I could find online except a factory rest which I really prefer not to do. Any suggestions?

Moto G7 Power sim card not available

2020-03-26, 1:30 AM

So I used the LMSA utliity to update my moto power g7 power to the feb 1, 2020 security patch.

Update downloaded the firmware, then I installed the firmware.

No problems and rebooted my phone and now it does not recognize the sim card

Everything was fine when I was on 114-134-7  immediately after the update to 114-134-10 I have no mobile data and sim card not found.

I reset network connections - no change

I did a soft reboot - no change

I did a factory reset via System options - no change

I then tried a reset via recovery choosing data and personal info - no change.

Right now I have a phone that I cant use to make calls and all the mobile network settings are grayed out.

Help!

Re:Moto G7 Power sim card not available

So I followed some instructions to boot into the bootloader menu.

My screen says no baseband.  Looks like when I used LMSA to update to 134-10 it erased or fails to initialize the sim card.  Interestingly, all my previous updates said it was for RETUS but this last formware from LMSA says it it RETAIL version ?  Could that be the problem ?

Since I really cant afford to be without a working phone, I'll have to unlock my bootloader and revert to 134-7 which was working before the update.

Hi MarkL1,

We might be focusing on the software side, have you tried removing and re-inserting the SIM card and/or tried using a different SIM?

I've reinserted the card and rebooted no luck. I've inserted my wifes sim card and booted up, no luck. My sim is recognized in her phone. Ironically see got the 134-10 updated pushed to her phone and it works. However mine was updated from LMSA and it just doesn't recognize either of the working sim cards. I'll check her about info on her phone and see what the software version is compared to what mine says.

Hi MarkL1,

Thanks for confirming. I'd like to get into this a little further, can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction.

Best regards,

BTW, If you are going to take a look I suggest you do it before 5pm cst. Because I really need to be able to text/call people and will unlock the bootloader and flash an older (probably 134-7) firmware so I can use my phone again. Mark
