G7 Power has been spontaneously vibrating for no reason

2020-07-10, 4:14 AM

My G7 Power has started vibrating for no reason that I can determine. Two short buzzes similar to the way it buzzes three times when turned face down for Do Not Disturb. It didn't do this previously. There's nothing open, no notifications.

Any insight as to what could be causing this?

This exact same issue has been happening for me, as well. That is, ever since the last update (PDOS29.114-134-15), which for me was applied on June 20th, 2020.

Unfortunately, though, I have not yet been able to find the cause of these duo vibrations, albeit I am still searching. I have no hard evidence that the update is actually at fault, but in my opinion, the timing is far too perfect to call it a coincidence. If I do eventually find the cause, I will update this thread. Hopefully this can be resolve soon, one way or another.

Hi brassplyer,

Thanks for posting your concern. How often does this vibrating happen? Try booting the phone in Safe mode and let us know if it keeps vibrating randomly.

To Enable Safe Mode:
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

Best regards,

From what I can tell so far, it doesn't do it in safe mode.

Hi brassplyer,

Let me help you with this. If it doesn't happen in safe mode. It's possible an app is causing the vibration.I would suggest uninstalling third-party apps such as anti-virus/malware or other similar apps. It will be hard to distinguish which app is causing this, but you have to look into your third-party apps. Try uninstalling suspicious third-party apps.

Also, try clearing data of Chrome app (Settings > Apps & notification > see all > Chrome > Clear Storage/Clear data. I'm thinking if these are notification coming from Chrome. Please let me know. Thanks.
