G7 power WiFi / Bluetooth problem

2019-09-13, 13:29 PM

Has this problem been acknowledged yet, and is there a solution available?  Trying to get the latest situation having read a number of posts about the issue.

My home WiFi speed maxes out at less than 3mbps (although quite often <1) with Bluetooth on.  With Bluetooth turned off I get 40mbps.

I have trouble downloading apps from the play store for god's sake.  Absolutely unusable.

Thanks

Exactly the same issue here. Moto G7 Power (UK bought from amazon).

I have had lots of different Moto G's and this is the most ridiculous issue of all.

If you use WiFi to stream music and want to listen throght a Bluetooth speaker don't bother buying this phone.

For that matter if you have a Fitbit or other Bluetooth connected smart watch. Save yourself the hassle of buying this phone until this issue is addressed (if it's even possible to address it)

Hi guys,

Thanks for letting us know! Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If not, I would suggest you reset your Network Settings-- go to Settings > Network & Internet > tap on top three dots > Network settings reset. Also, enable Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi preferences > Advanced > Reset default networks and try connecting the Wi-Fi again. Also, you can check your device in Safe Mode and see if that helps. Here is the link. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Suman

Ok, tried all that. Using fast.com, speed with Bluetooth off is 41mbps for in and out of safe mode. Not in safe mode with Bluetooth on, speed is a ridiculous 2mbps. In safe mode with Bluetooth on, speed is 28mbps.
So while better, still a lot slower, and what can I do anyway? I typically only have one Bluetooth device (Fitbit Ionic) connected to my phone permanently, so don't bother suggesting removing that.
Motorola/Lenovo need to acknowledge a major flaw with this device and either issue a fix (if possible, maybe not as I suspect it would have happened by now) or issue a recall/refund, as it is clearly not fit for purpose.

 Hi daggas66,

I have sent you a private message. Kindly check and revert.

Yes, so I replied to your PM (with my full name, as that will make a real difference to the solution), and I've not heard back from you since.

Is it just a front to make it look like you're helping?

Oh, and the problem still exists.  Still having to use my mobile data allowance at home.  Broken devices Moto G7 Power.

It has been a month since the last post. Is this the end of it then? I think this is a major flaw and I assume it is an un fixable hardware one? If it is possible to be fixed with firmware it would be nice to know. I have returned one phone because support said it was a faulty phone. Now I see all the g7 phones are broken.

As an owner of most of the G series phones I can say without a doubt this (G7 power) is the worst (overall phone) because of this issue and it is highly unlikely that I would buy another (forthcoming G8) because of this.

Yep, no more news.  Motorola/Lenovo fail to acknowledge, nevermind fix the fault in this device.

I'm finished with Motorola phones.  Will never buy another one again.  Disgraceful customer support.  It should have been fixed or recalled, but instead have unscrupulously kept hold of the revenue.

I'm now using mine as an expensive homebound WiFi hotspot with an unlimited data sim... And Bluetooth turned off of course.

Been having this same issue and nobody at Motorola will help.

There is a huge thread describing this problem and the reps keep suggesting the same useless solution.

There needs to be a recall or system update. I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing class-action because Motorola is knowingly selling a defective product.
