G7 power mobile network standby battery drain

2019-05-05, 10:52 AM

I have a problem with battery drain. For some reason mobile network standby is draining most of the battery with over 50% usage (see the picture)! What is causing this problem and how to fix it?

Try resetting your Network settings. If there's a weak signal it can drain batteries and if the settings have become damaged this may be adding to it,

To perform a Network reset, follow these steps.

  1. Swipe up on the Home screen to view your apps, then tap Settings.
  2. Tap System > Advanced > Reset options.
  3. Tap Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth > RESET SETTINGS.
  4. If prompted, enter your PIN or Password, then tap RESET SETTINGS

Then restart the phone.

Ok I did this. I will charge my phone to 100% and see tomorrow how things are going.

Hi MakeTheMaker,

Thanks for posting and for the screenshot. It looks like you have a bad service network, I agree, that could drain the battery especially when the mobile data is turned on, the device will use more of its battery searching for better reception. Can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate.

Hi MakeTheMaker,

Thanks for updating your profile. Indeed I'm seeing that your network signal is poor. I'd like to confirm, were you doing other activities on phone that could also contribute to the battery draining? I would suggest calibrating your battery (hold the power button until the phone reboots > Plug into the supplied charger > Charge to 100% > Leave on the charger for at least an additional hour). Once it reached 100% observe the phone while it's idle and you're not doing any activities with your phone, make sure the brightness is at the minimum level. Also, please confirm your location and environment. Thanks.

Best regards,

I did now some testing with your tips. Now mobile network standby is lower but still quite high. I also changed from 4g to 3g in settings and 3g is almost full bar all the time. Is there some setting that could reduce phone to constantly looking for better signal?

"Also, please confirm your location and environment."

How I do this?
