Re:MOTO G7 Battery Level Gone From Circle Clock After Android 10 Upgrade

2020-08-24, 6:00 AM

Hmm. So when the G9 is released, Motorola will take this beloved feature away from the G8, and put it on the G9.  When the G10 is released, they'll remove it from the G9...and so on.

Not cool.

Also, why was this marked "Solved"?  The problem still exists, has not been fixed, and is still outstanding.

Hi,

I personally like the previous version too. However, this is not an issue/problem. It is working as designed and we can't guarantee if they will bring it back. I have passed our feedback along. Thanks.

I see, I understand the "as designed" concept all too well.

However for myself, I'll reserve the right to take issue with this change;  for me personally, the change continues to be a problem as I use the phone.

Hi LeonoreProhaska,

Just to test this, can you please check if you have Moto Widget in Play Store? If so, go to Settings > Apps & notification > See all > Tap 3 vertical dots (top right of screen) > Show System > Moto Widget > Tap 3 vertical dots > Uninstall Updates, then reboot the phone after.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, per Play Stor, "installed".

Found it, "Uninstall Updates"...

Restarting...

No...darn it, thin wispy thing, no battery indicator bar.  Also, it looks like the widget updated automatically, with a green circling indicator in the middle of it right after home screen displayed. Now it's as though I never did anything, all back to the new normal.

Thanks for trying though.

I am also facing this issue on moto one power. That battery level circle was really good feature. Whoever is responsible for removing that circle, is very bad at decision making. Users want that back. Please rethink on it and put it back. Thanks.

So "The circle won't be coming back, but we will pass the feedback along." But it really still being used on more recent phones? Just removing features from older models to get people to upgrade something that otherwise doesn't need to be upgraded? This is why I switched from Appleto Android in the first place - sketchy practices trying to force users into making upgrades. The only effect this will have on me, is when it is time for an upgrade I will NOT be upgrading to a Motorola. So if they start sabotaging their older products hoping to bully their customers into buying upgrades, my response will be "The customer won't be coming back, but I will pass the feedback along."

Guys, you can revert to the old version.  I made a quick write up that is easy to follow.   I am hosting both so these cannot be deleted by motorola.

Hi,

Unfortunately, we can't guarantee any changes with this update. I understand you're still seeing this from other device but I'm not entirely sure the reason why they've decided this change. Those thing I suggested are just a test to see if we can actually revert to the old version but it seems like it's doing this for G7 device. I will not stop you if you'll find ways to roll back the version, it will be up to you. Thanks.

Dave - Thanks for the timely post. My wife came to me today for help. She was annoyed when the battery level circle disappeared. I figured it was likely caused by the resent update.

Your post allowed me to correct it in minutes. Moto should ALWAYS allow users the option of reverting to the previous version unless doing so would cause operational issues.

Thanks again.
