Moto Display

2019-03-03, 0:56 AM

What is the difference between peek Display  and approach to wake up? I just received my G7 that I pre-ordered and there seems to be an issue with that setting. No matter what combination of the two I use I notice the display keeps going on and off constantly. For example if I'm driving and the phone is on the seat of my car and I go past certain objects that create a shadow the display will go on and off Everytime. It's very annoying, how can I fix this? This may be a deal breaker for me with this phone.

Hello, there is a difference between Peek and Approach. Peek just means the phone will light up and show Moto Display when a new notification is received. Approach, is in addition to Peek. It will wake the phone when you get your hand or object close to the phone screen. However, it shouldn't be activated by objects far away. What might be happening is the physical movement of the phone could be triggering the display to turn on. You can try turning off Approach to see if that helps while driving. Let me know.

I turned off approach but it still does the same thing. It may be the phone movement as you said but it seems like it's too sensitive. The movement is imperceptible and the screen is turning on.

Thanks for trying. I figured it was the movement of the phone. There is no way to disable nudge to wake. You can turn off Peek and it should stop, but then you'll lose the Moto Display Feature. I will pass your feedback along.

This is the dumbest thing ever. Why not include an option to turn off nudge? It kills battery and it's ridiculously annoying. Please escalate if at all possible, this is horrible.
