Moto G7 Power Amazon version can't use Moto Actions / Gestures

2020-01-20, 15:43 PM

Got my new phone yesterday and tried using the Moto Actions, namely the twist for the camera and the shake for flashlight, and neither work.

I've disabled the app, rebooted the phone by holding Power button for a while, enabled the app and redone updates, nothing changed.

Hi cybertj_2000,

Thanks for posting. Have you tried testing this in safe mode?

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Best regards,

Hi cybertj_2000,

Let's confirm this, kindly open Moto app > Moto Actions > Quick Capture >  Try it out. There you can test these actions, make sure it's enabled too. Let me know. Thanks.

I tried opening the Moto Actions app and attempting the quick capture along with other items, and nothing seems to work correctly.  Both quick capture and chop for flashlight do not register anything. Device Help says that the proximity sensor isn't working.

Hi cybertj_2000,

This sounds like some sort of hardware failure. At this point, I recommend doing a factory data reset without restoring your backup. Test all these functions and see that fixes it.

Factory Data Reset:
Settings > System > Reset options > Factory Reset
*Backup your important files before doing the reset so you won't lose them.

Hope that helps. Thanks.
