Moto G7 Power "settings keeps stopping"

2020-01-02, 5:17 AM

I bought this phone last summer and a few months ago I started having a problem where whenever I would try to open the settings app it just says "settings keeps stopping" this is a problem because I can't connect any Bluetooth devices or do anything that requires me to use the settings app. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. If you have any solutions please let me know!

Hi Jewbacca,

Can you list the things you've tried? I would initially suggest booting your phone in safe mode if you haven't tried that.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Let me know if you're still getting an error accessing the Settings app. Thanks.

Best regards,

Hi Jewbacca,

It is unusual that the Settings is crashing, at this point, I would recommend doing factory data reset without restoring your apps/backup. This should fix it, otherwise, there could be some sort of hardware failure.

Factory Data Reset:
Settings > System > Reset options > Factory Reset
*Backup your important files before doing the reset so you won't lose them
*Don't restore your backup yet until you've seen improvements

Let me know. Thanks.

I cant follow your instructions as they require me to go into settings which is exactly what isn't working.

Hi Jewbacca,

Do you still need assistance? Sorry for the delayed response. Kindly try doing the external reset in the recovery mode. Here's the link to the instruction and some reminders. Back up your important files before proceeding with this.
