Re: Moto G7 Power stops recognizing SD card after reboot

Hey. I also formatted 64 GB class 10 as a portable memory with my new G7 plus a new Kingston micro SD card 64 GB class 10 and installed it. Every time I start up the phone I only have the option to remove or format the SD card, while I can still access it on the PC. Formatting the second option as internal memory is better, but media such as photos and videos have disappeared at certain times. Also in Whatsapp I can no longer view or find media. With an older 8 GB sd card I experience no problems with the Moto G7

I guess it's a specific bug with 64gb Kingston cards. i bought a sandisk ultra and it works normally. so, yeah, that's my luck and an unplanned expense. thanks Motorola!

Re: Moto G7 Power stops recognizing SD card after reboot

Hi, same issue here with a Transcend 32GB. Any update on what can be causing the issues? I have not installed/changed anything recently, neither have been able to try the card elsewhere (currently traveling so cannot test it accordingly), but the error literally came out of the blue, charged my phone at night and this morning I got a format error

Any help is welcome as this issue is putting lots of my info at risk.

Thanks

My brand new moto G7 will not recognize the brand new 32gig sd card I installed in  it either, it doesn't even acknowledge that the card is present.

Has this issue been resolved yet?

I have a new g7 bought for my holiday. I inserted a Samsung 32gb SD card and loaded it with maps music etc. When I arrived at my destination, the phone had gone flat. I thought that this was no big issue but whem I had charged and rebooted the phone it said that the sd card was corrupt. I thus had no access to my navigation maps , music etc whilst on holiday.

On return I find that this is a known issue. If it is a "known issue" then does it have a "known solution". If so could this have not been included with the instructions for the phone?

IMEI *removed*

Hi Johnmo,

Have you tried formatting the SD card? If so, can you please tell me how you format it?

Best regards,

Yes formatted ok on PC. {Could not format on the phone as it was supposedly "corrupt"}.
Put data on it whilst on PC and then refitted to G7. Phone read data Ok and it survived the phone being switched off and on . Unfortunately the second time I did this the card became corrupt again then .
I know that an obvious answer is not to turn the phone off ever but some apps (like Sygic Navigation ) require a soft reset to be done to clear problems.

Re: Moto G7 Power stops recognizing SD card after reboot

I have had a similar problem with my G7 Power.  First my 16GB card disappeared from the phone and I thought I had lost everything.  Confirmation with the laptop showed some level of corrupt files but was easily repaired.  No luck on being able to read the card for some time after that.  A couple of days later, some of the files (downloaded PDF, Word Files, etc) were readable but I could not access all of the pictures.  I switched to a new Sandisk 32GB card and all seemed well until a few days ago while I was listening to a podcast that I had saved on the SD card and everything quit.  Cannot see the card on my phone, again checked on the PC and found files corrupt, but scanned and fixed without issue.  Still not able to see the card.  Looking for a solution.

Thank you,

John
