Re:Moto G7 Power stops recognizing SD card after reboot

I'm having the same problems, card was working fine until recently then not being recognised whichever way I try to format it in the phone. The card is fine as I've had it in my laptop. The card is PNY 16GB & was new when I bought the phone about 6-8 months ago. Very disappointing from Lenovo, my wife & I have been using them for years but it looks like these 2 will be going back as Not Fit For Purpose & will also be advising people to avoid at all cost as they don't seem to be doing anything to rectify the fault which looking at this thread has been around for some time.....

after a reboot my g7 power says that my sd card ive had in it for almost 6 months is now corrupted. i installed said sd card into another phone (lg g6) and the card works just fine. is this a new issue with the g7 power? this phone has been pretty good up until now. no other issues other than this one.

i am having the same issue after a reboot. been using the same sd card for about 6 months then this one reboot says the card is corrupted. i installed the card into another device and it works just fine. this must be a g7 series problem.

Hi,

Please try formatting the SD card, if you have important files on it kindly back it up, but is also important to delete everything on the card. If it's still failing to recognize, we recommend trying another SD card, I would prefer a brand new SD card to make sure it's not corrupted.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi Rich,

In my case & also the 2 posts above your reply as well as many others there is nothing wrong with the card as it works fine in other devices. Are Motorola actively looking to repair this fault with the G7 or will we continue to be fobbed off with "try another card" which may work for 6 months then not be recognised by the G7 but recognised by other devices?

Kind regards,

Ian

I shouldn't have to buy a new SD card if it works fine on all other devices. This is a g7 problem not an SD card problem.

Doesn't look like anyone from Motorola gets it judging by the non-response from them....

Well I have an update to my issue. I found an old sd card, installed it into the g7 and it recognized it. I also deleted an Android folder from the "corrupted" card. It had close to 2000 files in that folder. I then installed the "corrupted" card into the g7 and it recognized it. Now I'm not a smartphone tech guy or developer but from I can gather is there must have been a conflicting file in the Android folder thus giving the g7 a problem reading the card completely. Maybe I'm reaching but that's the only thing I did to that particular card. Let me know if this makes any sense lol
