Moto G7 - no sound notifications for text messages

2020-09-24, 5:39 AM
I'm not receiving sound notifications for text messages and I've tried everything! I've even rebooted it. I've been troubleshooting it using my tablet for hrs just today but I've been trying to figure this out for a week but still nothing. Any suggestions?

Hi RaeChelle,

I will be glad to help you with this. Can you please confirm if you're using the stock Messages app? If so, can you please check if you have this in the Settings > Apps & notification >See all > Messages > "Behavior" > "Make Sound and Pop on Screen". Also, try clearing the cache and data of the app. Restart the phone in safe mode and see if that helps.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Best regards,
Rich

Try Phone settings > Apps and Info > Messaging > Storage and Clear Data and Cache. Then do a Soft Reset by pressing and holding the power button in for around 10/15 seconds until the phone restarts.

This emulates taking the battery out and can sure these glitches.

HTH :)
