Moto G7 not making wifi calls

2019-06-07, 15:58 PM

I have been in areas recently with a very weak or no cell signal but very good wifi.  I was unable to make calls despite the wi-fi call being set to "wi-fi preferred".  I am using Mint which runs on the T-mobile network.  Also, in my home, rather than defaulting to wifi, it still uses the cell service.  Please help

I can confirm my new G7 Power has Wi-Fi Calling that works!  Finally after six months of no Wi-Fi calling!

I live in an area that has poor cell coverage. My previous G6 Play,  though it had the Wi-Fi Calling feature, would not work using Consumer Cellular MNVO on AT&T towers. The G7 power works great now with this feature.

See attached. My setting is located under Network and Internet.

AT&T typically doesn't allow WiFi calling using devices not purchased from AT&T. T-Mobile does. You have a choice with Consumer Cellular, which resells both AT&T and T-Mobile services (both GSM). If you obtain the Consumer Cellular SIM card for the T-Mobile service, you will have access to WiFi calling. I use it with my Moto G5 Plus. Just call Consumer Cellular and tell them you need the T-Mobile SIM to enable WiFi calling. Also, with the Consumer Cellular T-Mobile SIM, you can elect to have international service at T-Mobile rates. We've used that when traveling abroad before.
