Hi rdpk7,

First, I would suggest making sure all apps are up to date in Play Store. Also, can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Dear agent Rich,

All apps are up to date in Play Store.

I have updated my profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number/IMEI.

The options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well.

It's okay for you to look at my apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Kind regards,

rdpk7

Hi rdpk7,

Thanks for updating. Can you please perform full factory data reset (Settings > System > Reset > Factory Data Reset)? Backup your important files but don't restore them before observing if there's improvement with the battery. Once done, we recommend calibrating your battery.

To perform a battery calibration:

  1. Force reboot the device by holding the power button until the device reboots
(For the moto z3  hold volume down + power to force the reboot.)
  2. Plug into supplied charger
  3. Charge to 100% and leave on the charger for at least an additional hour after getting to 100%

Here's the link for more info.

Let me know if that helps. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Dear agent Rich,

I've already calibrated my battery.

I really don't want to make a Factory reset!

Are you expecting Google or Lenovo to provide an Android update to fix the issue?

Regards,

rdpk7

Hi rdpk7,

Thanks for your reply. I have seen similar reports but this should not impact your current software version. I understand you'd like to avoid doing factory data reset, but it is recommended and definitely a workaround for this type of battery inconsistency.

I will report it and will let you know if we need further details. Thanks.

Hi rdpk7,

I raised this and we would like to further investigate this. Can you please send me a bug report when you had sudden quick battery discharge?

To capture Bug Report:
Go to Settings ->Developer options -> Enable USB debugging > Toggle On
Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
Once the issue is reproduced: Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power down menu.
Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.
Then upload the BugReport to your personal Google Drive and then share the link to the BugReport on the forums via private message
Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken. Please indicate the local time when you observed the behavior.

To enable developer options:
1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number
2. Tap Build number seven times. After the first few taps, you should see the steps counting down until you unlock the developer options. Once activated, you will see a message that reads, “You are now a developer!”
3. Go back to Settings, where you’ll find a Developer options entry in the menu

Thanks!

Best regards,
Rich

Dear agent Rich,

I have made Factory Data Reset and think that the battery is discharging normally now!
