Moto g7 Power no 5Ghz Wifi Support

2019-05-09, 2:43 AM

I can't connect to the 5ghz Wi-Fi and it lists my regular 2ghz Wi-Fi, doesn't show any 5ghz Wi-Fi around me either. I've tried to reset my network settings and my router and nothing is working. My phone said it was capable of 5ghz Wi-Fi network before I bought it, but so far from what I've read on many threads already it might not be possible. If there is anything I can do to help resolve this issue please let me know. Otherwise buying a new model phone that doesn't support the fastest and/or best services is kinda pointless and I'll probably just get rid of it. Thanks and I hope this issue is fixed, I don't want to have to replace a phone I just got.

5ghz is not universally supported by the various g7 models ( for some bizarre reason ).  I thouhgt all US models had it.  What is the exact model number of the phone?

I thought all models supported it as well, the model number is XT1955-2

The XT1955-2 is not a US model, it appears to have 2 sim slots but no NFC, 5ghz WiFi, or CDMA support.

As we are all finding out, this is the biggest con out for these phones. All areas were advertised with all these features, and then when we but the phone find out that most are not available.  I feel let down, lied to and conned by Motorola into buying there latest phone which is worse than previous models. Never again!

This is unacceptable surprise. Not likely to purchase another product.

Upgraded to G7 which does not accept 5G Wi-Fi. Previous phone G5 did accept 5G Wi-Fi.

Why the backward step?

Cost cutting madness from Motorola. This really is a bad phone. And the lack of NFC these days is another poor decision

Re: Moto g7 Power no 5Ghz Wifi Support

hi. I recently bought a Moto g7 Power (Latin America Version) It's odd because it has twice the storage and more RAM that k the US version and is factory unlocked ? but only GSM networs like TMobile or AT&T Cricket, Etc. But no Verizon or CDMA Networks. The phone is an excellent phone for the price great features but yes. Why no NFC or 5ghz wifi?

All I can say is you could try downloading 5G VPN or similar app from play store and it should connect faster. I've used different ones and some are better than others. It's hard to find a open server sometimes but some apps are better than others. I like this phone anddi thought of returning it for a second but...I use it as a backup for my Samsung note. And the Moto also has dual SIMs so this is a big plus and it actually gives some of the more expensive phone a run for their money.

Well. Hope I could help someone someway. Happy New Year ??❤️
