Moto widget: Battery level circle on classic is now inverted, and does not match the lock screen!

2021-06-10, 12:55 PM

I was glad to see Motorola brought back the classic widged with the battery indicator, thank you. But in the latest update you messed with it agian! the change log said it was just a font update, but once I updated my battery indicator circle was inverted! Now it starts at the bottom instead of the top. To someone who got used to it starting at the top this is quite annoying every single time I unlock my device. Furthermore, the on lock screen it start on the top, but once I unlock the battery circle is inverted.

Why Motorola?! Why would you make this change? the widget is called "classic", so why make a change like this which means it is no longer "classic"?!

Please fix the battery circle so it starts at the top again like it always did and like it still does on the lock screen. Otherwise give us a setting so we can choose ourselfs.

It's like muscle memory, you expect to see this indicator start at the top and when it does something else it triggers "something is wrong" in my mind each time I unlock my phone.

So? You can still take this feedback to the newer phone models. Can you do that at least?

Hi Monsterola,

I definitely would like to help you with this. Can you provide us a screenshot of the battery circle widget?

Best regards,

I see that Sunitha moved my post to the wrong topic, that reply belongs in the topic about flashlight features and has nothing to do with the battery circle.

Here is a screenshot of the updated widget. 0% and 100% are indicated at the bottom, while that used to be at the top. On my lock screen the circle starts at the top. Until now the lock screen and the widget madged perfectly, but with this update they no longer do.

Note this is the Classic widget, and one would expect it to retain it's 'classic' look. I can understand a font update (not loving it but I'm not the only person using this app)  but inverting the battery circle can't serve and accessibility reason while it does work disrubting.

Hi Monsterola

Can you please check if there's an update with the Moto Display in the Play Store, update it and see if it now matches on your lock screen? Thanks.

I do not want to update Moto Display. The reviews on the app store are quite clear it has been drasically changed:

- The approach function might not work anymore

- The new animation is brighter and distracting (why would anyone want that?!)

I would like to return to the classic widget please and I would like to keep the Moto Display classic as well. Or at least give us a settign to make the lock screen as dark as possible agian.

Hi Monsterola

I understand there was some issues with the Moto Display and approach, that has since been fixed in the latest version. As for the Animation, there is a background animation now, but I don't believe it's any brighter. I would say give it a try and if you really don't like it uninstall the update to revert back. We'll pass the feedback along about the battery circle being flipped from the original version, but we can't guarantee there will be any changes to that.
